About You :

1. Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree.*
2. Current AHPRA registration as a Pharmacist.*
3. Current First Aid Certificates (HLTAID011 and HLTAID009)
4. Current Accreditation as a Pharmacist Vaccinator

Position Summary :

Joining our team of pharmacists, you will be responsible and accountable for the efficient and accurate provision of medicines and health information to patients and ensure that standards and procedures, legislation and professional requirements, are implemented and maintained.

Working Conditions

The role will require the employee to:

1. Lift and move items of moderate to heavy weight (approximately 25kgs).
2. Reach items above shoulder height.
3. Use computer screens and technology frequently.*
4. Spend prolonged periods (6-8 hours) standing.
5. Remain alert and focused for extended periods of time.*

Key Requirements :

1. Successful completion of Pharmacist Internship or Traineeship resulting in registration as a Pharmacist with AHPRA.
2. Computer literate and can embrace new technology quickly with minimal training and supervision*
3. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.*
4. Good attention to detail.*
5. Ability to lead and work as part of a dynamic team with a broad range of roles and responsibilities.

Job Responsibility :

Within this role, oversee the supply and sale of medicines, therapeutic devices and non-pharmacy products, and the provision of all pharmacy services.

Sales & Service

• Work from your dedicated Pharmacist workstation.
• Be available to other staff members, where requested, to assist in customer service.
• Provide customers with high-level customer service.*
• Build customer relationships and loyalty.
• Provide and promote pharmacy services to customers.
• Assist customers with non-prescription medicine sales.
• Maintain sound product knowledge, including retail and non-prescription medicines.
• Maintain awareness of in-store promotions and generate customer interest.
• Follow pharmacy procedures when processing cash, cheque or credit card transactions.
• Accept and deal with or refer complaints/feedback.

Dispensary Operations

Supply medicines, including prescription and non-prescription medicines in accordance with the Pharmacy Board of Australia and National Health Act regulations and guidelines.* This includes, but is not limited to:

• Dispensing prescription medicines (including medicine counselling)
• Supplying Pharmacist-Only Medicines
• Supervising and assisting with the supply of Pharmacy Medicines, unscheduled medicines and health products
• Oversee duties of the dispensary assistant(s).*
• Provide professional pharmacy services, including, but not limited to :
• dose administration aids
• staged supply
• opioid substitution therapy
• screening/management of disease states
• health promotion
• home medicine review
• medicine adherence service
• extemporaneous preparations
• Report all dispensing errors and near misses or any breaches of ethics.*
• Counsel on medication, both prescription and over-the-counter.*
• Practice in accordance with dispensary policy and procedure.*
• Collaborate and maintain relationships with local health professionals.
• Ensure PBS and PPI claims are prepared.
• Ensure that dispensary shelves are clean and neat and standards are maintained as per best practice guidelines.
• Maintain dispensary stock, including stock rotation, ordering and expiry-date checking.
• Maintain appropriate ethical standards in relation to the pharmacy.
• Comply with the Pharmacist Code of Ethics while practising.
• Computer housekeeping and back-ups are to be performed on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
• Apply work practices as required under state and federal work health and safety legislation and associated Codes of Practice and ensure compliance with the Equal Opportunity and Discrimination legislation.
• Monitor access to safe/s in compliance with VPA (Victorian Pharmacy Authority) requirements.

Standards and staff performance

• Maintain dress standards in accordance with the pharmacy’s policy.
• Maintain punctuality.
• Attend meetings with staff and management as required.
• Maintain an excellent knowledge of the dispensary and health-care-related products and services.*

Safety & Security

• Apply the pharmacy’s workplace safety procedures in daily activities.*
• Follow the pharmacy’s workplace procedures for reporting hazards and incidents.*
• Conduct store opening and closing in accordance with pharmacy’s procedures under pharmacist supervision.
• Maintain security of medicines in accordance with legislative requirements.*
• Report potential breaches as they occur or become evident to the pharmacy manager/proprietor.
• Act in a manner that does not jeopardise the health and safety of yourself or others.
• Follow the pharmacy’s infection control procedures and use safe and hygienic practices.*
• Clean and disinfect equipment and surfaces and safely dispose of waste.
• Adhere to COVID-SAFE plans.*

Supervision of staff

• Supervise any Pharmacy Assistants or Administration Staff.
• Escalate any performance concerns or employee grievances to Manager
