Toowoomba Grammar School is looking for a Casual Grounds Person to support Facilities Team with in maintaining the School grounds and facilities to a high standard.

Toowoomba Grammar School is committed to maintaining a high standard of excellence in all aspects of our school environment. We are looking for a dedicated and motivated Grounds Person to join our team and help us achieve this goal.

Primary Purpose of the Position: 

The Grounds Person will assist the Greenkeeper Lead in maintaining the school grounds to a high standard. This role involves a variety of tasks including general grounds maintenance, landscaping, and ensuring the safety and aesthetics of the school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General grounds maintenance including mowing, pruning, hedging, weeding, fertilizing, and edging.
  • Operating and maintaining garden machinery, tools, and equipment.
  • Basic landscape gardening and garden bed makeovers.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of outdoor furniture and bin enclosures.
  • Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of turf and practice wickets.
  • Ensuring the safety of students, staff, and visitors by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Mandatory: Blue Card, current Construction White Card.
  • Desirable: Previous experience as a Grounds Person, strong technical background in landscaping and horticulture, experience in a school or educational environment, current first aid qualifications.

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Adaptable and able to manage changes in weather conditions and work schedules.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to the team.
  • Energetic, motivated, proactive, and efficient with a passion for outdoor work.
