About the Role

Service Stream’s Utilities division are currently seeking a Crew Leader / Foreman to join our growing company. The primary role and responsibility of the Crew Leader is to oversee and lead a team of workers in Water Renewals on the Yarra Valley Water Reliability Program Nature of position: Permanent, Full Time Location: Clayton South, VIC Reporting Line: Construction Manager Key Responsibilities
As a Crew Leader, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the daily activities of the crew, ensuring the successful completion of water and sewer projects in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. The Crew Leader is Responsible and Accountable for the below requirements associated with both their role and the personnel that are aligned as Direct Reports to their position Team Leadership: Lead and supervise a crew of workers, including equipment operators, pipe layers, and laborers. Provide guidance, support, and direction to ensure efficient and effective project execution. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.  Task Assignment: Assign tasks and responsibilities to crew members based on their skills and capabilities. Ensure that each crew member understands their role and responsibilities and provide necessary training and guidance.  Project Coordination: Coordinate with the Superintendent and other project stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution. Communicate project requirements, schedules, and priorities to the crew. Anticipate and address potential issues or conflicts.  Work Planning: Assist in the development of work plans and schedules. Coordinate with the Superintendent to allocate resources effectively and efficiently. Ensure that materials, equipment, and tools are available and ready for use as needed.  Quality Control: Monitor work performed by the crew to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards. Conduct regular inspections and tests to verify the quality and integrity of work. Address and resolve any quality issues promptly.  Safety Compliance: Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on-site. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and requirements. Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and audits. Investigate and address safety incidents and near misses.  Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain equipment as needed. Provide guidance and training to crew members on equipment operation and safety procedures. Coordinate with the equipment maintenance team to ensure proper maintenance and repairs.  Communication: Maintain effective communication with crew members, project stakeholders, and the Superintendent. Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and achievements. Address and resolve any crew-related concerns or issues.  Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation, including SWMS, Pre starts, daily reports, time sheets, and equipment logs. Ensure that all required records are complete and submitted in a timely manner.  Training and Development: Identify training needs and provide necessary training to crew members. Foster a learning environment and encourage the development of skills and knowledge within the crew.  About You Prior experience as a Leading Hand / Operator / Pipelayer with the utilities and/or civil construction sector (Essential) Relevant Trade Qualification (Preferable) Certificate III/IV in Civil Construction or equivalent (Preferable) Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local building codes and safety laws. Ability to lead and manage teams. Ability to deal diligently, patiently, and professionally with internal stakeholders, clients, sub-contractors, and suppliers. Initiative-taker, able to determine own priorities and manage work accordingly. Analytical with ability to identify and suggest areas for process improvement and drive efficiency. 3+ years’ experience within the Infrastructure Construction industry or similar industry experience. Previous industry experience within utilities, water and/or gas / power. Specialist experience in provision of Civil services discipline
