About the Position An excellent opportunity has become available for casual Coal Samplers to work at Hay Point and Dalrymple Bay Coal terminal and at our Mackay site. We are looking for suitably qualified and experienced Coal Samplers to become a part of the Ports team based in Mackay, on a casual basis.
Position Synopsis
Reporting to the Ports Supervisors, the position requirements include but are not limited to:
Ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe & efficient manner and to agreed standard operating instructions. Ensuring that all work complies with National & International standards. Checking & validating all results to ensure that they are within repeatability tolerances. Enter validated results into the reporting system. Maintain the laboratory and its equipment according to company standards. Make recommendations on ways of improving the efficiency & accuracy of sample analysis. A range of analytical tests including Total Moisture A range of physical tests including sample preparation, crushing, dividing and sample storage. Requirements
Full training will be provided to successful candidates. However, to be considered for this position, you will have:
A strong focus on safety, quality and team work. Strong numeracy and literacy skills. Prior experience in a coal testing environment is desirable. Good grasp of computers/technology including spreadsheets. Comfortable with manual handling duties. Ability to work to a flexible roster and willingness to work 12-hour day, day or night shifts. Valid Driver’s License. Competent within a strong safety culture. Candidates with previous technical or coal experience will be preferred. As part of the selection process, a pre-employment medical exam is required including a drug and alcohol assessment.
