The Role

We are looking for a qualified Boilermaker with a strong involvement in all aspects of maintenance, including routine maintenance, repairs and servicing to join us in the Hoisting and Shafts department at George Fisher Mine . In this role you will carry out workshop fabrication duties, carry out routine scheduled maintenance tasks, trouble shooting and completing breakdown repairs. You will have the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently, working in a dynamic and challenging environment with a high focus on planned maintenance. Reporting to the Hoisting and Shaft Assets Supervisor , you will have the ability to make decisions, work to meet deadlines and exceptional communication skills. The roster for this role is 4 on 4 off, 4 on 2 off days only.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

      • Safe and efficient repairs to Double Drum Winders, Ground Mounted Friction Winder, conveyor belts, hydraulic systems, Shaft steelwork, Winder rope maintenance and rope changes.
      • Routine maintenance and servicing of Fixed Plant across the operation,
      • Workshop fabrication duties and the development of apprentices.
      • You will also need to interpret scale drawings or specifications to determine job requirements and materials.
      • Maintaining and improving OH&S and overall operational standards in the workplace

You will have the following skillset and attributes:

      • Boilermaker qualification or similar
      • A high Focus on Safety
      • Ability to read and interpret mechanical/schematic drawings
      • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
      • Flexible approach and adaptable to change with a high attention to detail
      • Good time management skills and able to work well under pressure
      • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
      • Good communication skills
      • Willingness and ability to learn new processes
      • Hold a current Australian Manual Drivers Licence
      • Experience in SAP and Microsoft Office would be an advantage or similar system
      • Hold a forklift, doggers or riggers competency
