The Project Site Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the delivery of safety Projects in remote locations across the Goldfields and Pilbara regions of Western Australia.

This role focuses on the successful delivery of essential safety works projects across the Goldfields and Pilbara by coordinating with various stakeholders, managing resources, budgets, schedules, engagement and management of contractors, regular reporting and progress tracking for the Business Leadership Team, and commitment to safety excellence.

The role will be based out of the Gold Corporation’s East Perth office but will require regular travel to sites across regional Western Australia.

State Batteries are a historic part of the gold mining industry in Western Australia. Their history commenced after the discovery of gold at Coolgardie in 1892. State Batteries were developed by the Western Australian State Government to support the treatment of ore containing gold or other valuable metals produced by prospectors or small miners.

By 1950 there were close to 100 operating Batteries, either privately or Government owned, however this figure reduced to less than 50 by 1958. A Government functional review of Batteries was completed in 1982 and subsequently all Batteries were closed by 1987. The Gold Corporation currently has 22 of the former State Batteries under its management order. 

Your role as a Supervisor Technical Site will involve:

  • Lead the Essential Site Works workstream - Plan, schedule, and supervise all technical activities on assigned projects to ensure timely completion of the following:
  • Definition and drafting of work plan(s), such as execution strategy or plan for the project, to achieved the scope or work approved by the site closure manager
  • Identification of options for an effective and efficient methodology for delivering on the program objectives
  • Leading the business risk assessment process for proposed works methodologies and progressing their delivery
  • Working closely with the procurement and contracts team to ensure appropriate project delivery
  • Ensuring optimisation of stages/phases of work through optioneering assessments
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously, as delegated by the Site Closure Manager, ensuring priorities are communicated succinctly and within specified timeframes
  • Manage contractors, consultants and service providers; and schedules/timelines for successful and timely implementation of delegated projects which including the following:
  • Managing of scoping, planning, execution and delivery of assigned projects from schedule and QA/QC of deliverables
  • Track and monitor compliance to schedule and budget as well as project governance though facilitating regular meeting and when required, daily updates and monitoring
  • Manage the process of internal and external reviews of project reports, including peer reviews
  • Provide project management best practice to deliver sustainable outcomes whilst achieving project delivery on “time” on “budget”, and within “scope”
  • Ensure all site activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards
  • Provide timely data and communication on the State Battery Project safety improvement projects status to the site closure manager by:
  • Establishing and maintaining project plans and project budgets, to report progress as specified by the site closure manager
  • Presenting risk assessments, and escalating any issues with recommended mitigating actions
  • Facilitating project review, update and overview presentations as required
  • Assist and manage the design, development and delivery of the Essential Safety Works workstream including process, equipment, technology, and stakeholders, contributing to decisions on commissioning of initiatives
  • Communicate the status and impact of current projects via the program’s governance procedures to the Site Closure Manager (e.g. input into SteerCo papers and board papers)
  • Facilitate regular engagement with the core functions to ensure alignment between work streams, disciplines, and departments for the projects undergoing delivery, ensuring tasks, deliverables and schedules are appropriately planned and executed
  • Ensure all reporting employees or contractors, are not exposed to hazards either physical or psychological, while working

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geosciences, Engineering or equivalent
  • Project Management, or a related field will be viewed preferably
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role within a mining or construction environment, preferably in remote locations
  • Demonstrated experience with ESRI suite and/or QGIS or other remote sensing platforms
  • Strong knowledge of safety management processes, technical project management, and site supervision
  • Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
  • Ability to work in challenging and changing environments with limited resources
  • Willingness to travel and stay in remote locations for extended periods
  • Experience working in diverse cultural environments
