Our Disability Support Worker position may be ideal for you As a Support Worker, you empower our customers' independence and assist them in achieving their goals and preferred lifestyle.

This is the perfect time to join Ability WA as we are growing and opening multiple houses in 2024 As relief supports, you will experience working in different houses with various customers. After commencement, you will have the option to transition into permanent shifts.

This opportunity is a permanent part-time position with minimum guaranteed hours and the ability to pick up additional shifts.

About the Role

  • Provide active support focusing on maximising engagement and participation in the customer’s daily life
  • Promote community inclusion by taking the customers to appointments and activities, supporting them in connecting with family and friends
  • Support customers with their daily living needs - such as cleaning, washing, ironing, meal planning, meal preparation, cooking and personal administration (e.g. shopping, banking, paying bills)
  • Support customers with their personal care needs, such as bathing, showering, toileting, dressing, grooming and hoisting (this includes customers with high care needs)
  • Undertake report writing, shifts notes, incident reports and advocate for the customer

About You

  • Comfortable with undertaking both residential and community based roles
  • Comfortable to utilise the wheel-chair accessible vans to transport customers
  • Reliable, passionate and committed to meeting customer needs and supporting them to achieve their potential
  • Well-rounded communication skills that are adaptable to varied personalities and abilities
  • Strong focus on maintaining customer wellbeing and freedom of choice
  • A Certificate III or IV in a caring discipline is desirable
  • Willingness to work in different locations within the Perth Metro Area
  • Willingness to obtain a National Police Clearance no older than 6 months, Current Driver’s Licence, NDIS Worker’s Orientation Module, NDIS Worker Screening check, Current First Aid Training Certificate (HLTAID011 minimum), COVID-19 Vaccination (min. 2 doses)

Availability Requirements

  • To ensure the best match we ask that you can commit to minimum of shifts per week
  • As most of our shifts are on weekdays, availability between Monday-Friday in the following time frames is required:
    • Morning Shifts – 6:00AM – 4:00PM
    • Afternoon Shifts - 1:00PM – 11:00PM
