Disability Support Worker – High Intensity

Casual $40.26/hr
Castle is currently looking for casual Disability Support Workers with experience in assisting individuals with complex disabilities, including but not limited to Diabetes Management, Seizure & Epilepsy Support, Mealtime Management & Dysphagia, Advanced Manual Handling, and Medication Administration. We are seeking dedicated individuals committed to delivering high-quality care for our clients, to work across our Newcastle and Hunter sites.

Your Opportunity Awaits
As a Disability Support Worker, you're not just filling a role; you're helping people reach their goals. Reporting to our NDIS Assistant Service manager you’ll:
- Help participants become more independent, build positive social connections, and forge friendships within the community and with other participants.
- Work together with participants to identify their employment goals and develop plans to achieve them, including training, travel arrangements, interview skills, and organizational abilities.
- Prioritise forming genuine connections and empowering participants throughout their journey.
- Be available to work a mix of weekday and weekend shifts.
- Provide flexible and timely support to participants facing behavioural challenges, utilising techniques like de-escalation and positive behaviour support when needed.
- Assist with daily tasks and activities while also focusing on promoting employment goals and arranging social activities within the community.
What You'll Need to Succeed
To excel in this role, you should have:

- First aid certificate
- Experience of working with people with Diabetes, Epilepsy, Intellectual Disabilities, Mental Health, Dementia & Advance Manual Handling Supports, Behaviours of Concern, Restrictive Practices, complex bowel care, Mealtime Management & Dysphagia
- Experience in operating a sling hoist
- Cert III Individual Supports, Cert IV Disability and / or Mental Health Care Qualification
- Integrity, honesty & reliability is critical for this role
Essential Criteria
To join our team, you'll need:
- Previous experience within disability services or similar
- An NDIS Workers Check (or a willingness to obtain one).
- A Working With Children Check (or a willingness to obtain one).
- A driver's license or reliable transportation.
- Willingness to understand and agree with Castle’s Vision, Purpose and Value statements and the ability to apply these values to your own work
