About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated, driven individual with high attention to detail to join our Freedom of Information (FOI) / Information Release Service as an FOI Officer. The FOI Officer role involves reviewing and assessing documents, and making decisions regarding the release of medical records and other documents in accordance with the Freedom of Information legislation. 

In this role, you will be responsible for processing FOI requests at Eastern Health by diligently reviewing all documents as part of requests received for access, assessing the content of the documents and making effective decisions in regards to release, applying exemptions where necessary. Our ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills and be a proficient planner, managing their allocated requests in a timely manner. They will also be dedicated to continuous service enhancement, and have the capability to collaborate with all levels of staff from Eastern Health and external agencies.

Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential for this position as the role involves communicating extensively with external stakeholders and the public in regards to Freedom of Information processes, and consultation. Please note that this role involves extensive reading and assessment of medical records and other documents in order to make decisions in regards to release.

Desirable:

Previous experience in processing Freedom of Information requests or experience in high level administrative duties is desirable.
