At Unilever ANZ, we have also embarked on something special: we are proud to be undertaking a 4 Day work week trial. This trial will see our staff retain 100 percent of their salaries, while working 80 percent of the time and delivering 100 percent of business outcomes. The Site Safety, Health & Environment Lead (Minto) role is designed to be fully functional in the 4-Day work week trial.

Job Summary

To provide for the Safety Health and Environment (SHE) needs of sourcing unit workers and the site adhering to all legal compliance & Unilever Management System. This includes improvements to SHE management systems, spending adequate time on shop floor, providing SHE leadership and practical support and driving SHE improvement programs at site level. 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate the evolution and implementation of the Unilever SHE Management System for the site.

  • Day to day management of SHE activities including risk assessments, incident investigation, root cause analysis, action management and reporting.

  • Maintain the SHE system to ensure compliance with company and relevant industry and legislative requirements.

  • Track and assist in the completion of site SHE Improvement Plans

  • Drive continuous improvement to the physical environment, as well as the safety culture.

  • Drive site SHE training needs and scheduleTake the lead role for site consultation structures and committees i.e. assisting the USCHEC.

  • Coordinate site SHE communications including toolbox talks and team briefs.

  • Be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the implementation of all SHE programs and processes.

  • Lead Data & Digital for SHE in terms of innovation & analysis of the data.

  • Ensure operational control standards, task-based analysis are completed, risk assessed/ closed relevant to the site are deployed and adhered to.

  • Lead the site emergency preparedness and response program,

  • Conducting, Reporting & Analysing safety behaviour observations and inspections and co ordinate the overall monitoring program for the site.

  • Conduct SHE Audits as necessary.

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in the areas of Safety, Health & Environment systems management in a manufacturing environment.

  • Certificate IV in OH&S or higher qualification in a related field.

  • Motivated to be hands on & spending time on the manufacturing shop floor.

  • Return to Work qualifications and experience.

  • Strong working knowledge of national and New South Wales state OH&S legislation.

  • Excellent computer and literacy skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

Desired:

  • Familiar with relevant Australian Standards relating to a Manufacturing Facility. (eg. Confined Spaces, Working at Heights, Management of Contractors, Electrical Standards, Machine Guarding etc)

  • The ability to be able to work with a high degree of autonomy.

  • The ability to use data to determine trends and action plans.

  • Previous experience with Manufacturing Unionized Workforces.
