Your new team

Forming part of the Orygen Specialist Program (OSP), a program of The Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Custodial Forensic Youth Mental Health Service (FYMHS) team provides specialist youth mental health care in custodial settings (Parkville and Cherry Creek sites) to young people and their families/carers. 

Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD) team within Custodial FYMHS comprising of Speech Pathology, Neuropsychology and Occupational Therapy. This specialist assessment team provides primary and secondary consultations regarding complex cases, particularly when diagnostic clarification around communication and cognition (i.e. ASD, Language Disorders, ADHD and ID) is sought. 

Your new role

  • Provide assistance and support to young people in custody who present with complex, neuropsychological needs
  • Provide Neuropsychology assessment and expert opinion regarding diagnostic formulation and treatment recommendations to support young people and their service providers in custody
  • Work with Primary Health and other custodial service providers to support knowledge and understanding regarding cognitive complexity to support capacity building and service support options
  • Development of clinical policy, protocols and planning for delivery of neuropsychology-specific services

About You:

  • Relevant qualifications, hold endorsement in clinical neuropsychology and board approved supervisor (see position description for details)
  • Substantive experience in clinical practice as a clinical neuropsychologist, particularly in youth mental health
  • Previous experience or an interest in and experience in supporting young people with NDD/ASD
  • Knowledge of the youth justice and/or criminal justice system and other relevant settings is desirable.
