ROLE SUMMARY

Your primary functions will include the improvement and management of the site's Industrial Hygiene program to meet regulatory compliance obligations and conform to Pfizer Global EHS Standards.

You will conduct industrial handling activities in accordance with the site's Industrial Hygiene programs and relevant laws. You will have the opportunity to help develop systems to control a variety of workplace hazards, such as potent compounds (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API)), chemicals, and non-ionizing radiation sources, using traditional hierarchy of control approaches like ventilation systems, noise control, work practices, and personal protective equipment.

You will also be expected to have knowledge and experience in implementing pharmaceutical control technologies within sterile injectable and laboratory operations.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer site’s industrial hygiene program by assisting with development and implementation of procedures and activities with the area/department owners’ participation in assuring they comply with relevant regulations and Pfizer standards.
  • Conducts industrial hygiene assessments of products, processes, and capital investments which leads to identification and implementation of controls to assure colleagues’ protection.
  • Provides information, instruction and develops hands-on practical trainings to increase the knowledge of industrial hygiene at all levels of the site.
  • Utilizes Pfizer processes and tools to assess occupational exposures using strategies that align with the AIHA Exposure Assessment Strategy (or equivalent).
  • Provides industrial hygiene guidance to the site emergency response team.
  • Assists with the development and helps to lead the implementation of industrial hygiene control and system improvements across the site.
  • Conducts investigations of working conditions for the prevention of occupational disease and industrial health hazards, with specific reference to toxic substances, noise, and harmful physical agents.
  • Implement Pfizer sampling strategies measuring airborne concentrations of dust, gases, and mists; uses air sampling instruments and collection devices collecting samples of materials to detect and evaluate employee exposure including providing solutions and determining the effectiveness of engineering and administrative controls. Review corporate, regional, and local EHS requirements and implement applicable standards at the site level to assure full compliance with all applicable requirements.
  • Manage day-to-day hazardous, biological, and special waste activities, interact, and communicate with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct occupational hygiene and toxicology programs in accordance with federal and local regulations.
  • Support the effective integration of EHS into the day-to-day management and meeting structures within the functional area.
  • Be familiar with operational activities, identify opportunities for improvement and coordinate with HSRs/management to bring forward improvement projects.
  • Assist in the completion of risk evaluations for new chemicals, new projects, and equipment.
  • Investigate incidents and complaints of colleagues regarding safety, health, including ergonomics.
  • Develop and publish Environmental Health and Safety communications, as necessary.
  • Manage Audit of the sites’ systems and processes and implement effective EHS improvement and engagement activities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Qualifications in IH / Science / Engineering
  • Experience developing and implementing of industrial hygiene programs.
  • Experience in working in a Chemical, Petrochemical or Pharmaceutical environment.
  • Experience with identifying implementing and testing effectiveness of appropriate control technologies for potent compound manufacturing and handling.
  • Competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project Management, Power Point and TEAMS).
  • Proven experience of working in the field with area owners to identify and implement the best solutions.
  • Experience in conducting incident investigations.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and leadership skills.
  • Ability to successfully influence and engage with multiple levels of the organization and the proven ability to lead cross functional teams is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry or Engineering. And or recognized qualifications in Industrial Hygiene.
  • Experience in design of experiments and statistical analysis.

Experience in Project Management and Lean Concepts.
