The Role:

This exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team in the position of Building & Construction HSE Advisor.  You will be responsible for implementing company health and safety strategies in NSW and ACT offering advice, training, and support to our staff and subcontractor network. this position offers a blend of office and onsite activity and would suit someone who already has some health and safety experience and is keen on expanding their skillset with a growing and diverse business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive a strong safety culture – a culturally aligned “safety leader” is what we are looking for
  • Enjoy being onsite influencing safe outcomes
  • Reduce risks and prevent injuries through a focus on high risk work activities and safety compliance 
  • Keep up to date with HSE compliance in relevant state & national legislation
  • Implement, maintain & update project specific HSE plans and SWMS 
  • Manage HSE inductions & onboarding for new internal staff, including HSE communications and toolbox talks
  • Provide advice on HSE matters and issues which arise, in line with our company framework and safety management system
  • Respond to incidents & emergencies, including investigations, reporting & escalation

Being able to demonstrate and highlight examples of these are the key criteria for you to be successful in joining our existing talented and passionate team.  The following selection criteria is also important, but we are happy to teach and mentor you along the way.

  • Qualification in Work Health & Safety, essential (minimum Certificate IV in H&S)
  • Previous experience in the Building & Construction industry
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal & external stakeholders
  • Superior communication skills, both written & verbal
  • Results driven & adaptable
  • Excellent organisational skills & attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple / competing priorities & make quick decisions
  • Problem solving & process implementation skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Valid driver licence and willingness to travel regionally and interstate as required
  • Construction White Card
  • Working with Children Check (preferred or to undertake during employment)
