Penrith City Council is seeking a dynamic and visionary City Economy Program Manager to lead its strategic efforts in investment attraction and economic development, and the delivery of key objectives outlined in the Penrith Economic Development Strategy 2023-2031.

About the role

In this exciting role, you will be at the forefront of shaping Penrith’s economic landscape. Your leadership will be instrumental in attracting high-value investments, promoting the city as a premier destination for businesses, and driving initiatives that support innovation and sustainable growth. You will be responsible for delivering on the key actions outlined in the Penrith Economic Development Strategy 2023-2031, guiding the city’s economic transformation over the next decade. With Penrith positioned as a key growth hub connected to the new Western Sydney International Airport, you’ll play a pivotal role in crafting strategies that attract investment, grow local jobs, foster partnerships, support local businesses, and create new opportunities for our community.

As a natural leader, you will inspire and guide a passionate team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. You’ll be responsible for leading high-impact programs that engage stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, ensuring Penrith remains a competitive and forward-thinking city.

Essential criteria

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in economics, strategy, business or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in leading, inspiring and managing high performing multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience and demonstrated capability in investment attraction
  • Ability to analyse data, economic trends, and measure benefits of Council's economic development initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to role model collaboration and build influential relationships across diverse stakeholders

Desirable criteria

  • Understanding of the local government operating environment
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence

Commencing salary: $125,617.00 per annum, plus 11.5% Superannuation.

Access to a Motor Vehicle Allowance is available with this position; however, it is not a condition of employment.
