Warmblood Horse Stud Worker .

Coldstream Park is a Boutique Warmblood Stud that is located in the Yarra Valley (1 hour from Melbourne). I am currently looking for an experienced stud hand to assist in all aspects of stud work and general horse care. This is a live on farm position do not apply if you cannot live on farm or have no previous horse stud work experience.Job Duties include, but are not limited to:Assisting vet, farrier, dentist, Physio.Daily feeding, checking water and rugging as required.Administering treatments and medications including injections, poulticing , bandaging wounds and anything else needed.Cleaning boxes and yards.Keeping the barn and stables tidy and clean.General farm maintenance, harrowing, fencing maintenance, slashing and putting out round bales . This can be done by someone else if you are not able to drive a tractor. Happy to train how to drive the tractor .Handling of young stock, broodmares and stallions. Assisting with weaning foals .Moving horses as required between stables and paddocks.Monitoring horses for nutritional and medical reasons.Helping to show horses for sale to clients and help do photo shoots of horses for saleBring in and out horses to be ridden and tacking up for rider .

The successful applicant will be experienced in all aspects of stud work, hard working, able to follow instruction and competent working either alone and as part of a small team. I am looking for someone with a mature attitude, attention to detail and experience with the care and handling of mares with foals and stallions. Must be happy to work weekends on a roster with other staff and be available for any after hours emergency if on the farm.

Requirements

The successful applicant will be physically fit and capable of handling a range of horses, including young stock and stallions. You must be able to work alone and as part of a team. Immediate start preferred. References required.
