Role purpose
The Examiner Standards Manager (Speaking) is responsible for quality assurance of examiner marking and delivery standards for Online Speaking tests for the IDP Test Centre Network and its various programs including IELTS Online (IOL), the Global VCS Hub and Cross-Border VCS examiners.
The role supports the Senior Examiner Standards Manager (Speaking) in ensuring suitably qualified examiners are in place to meet regional and global test centre demand, as well as requirements for IELTS Online (IOL) and Global VCS Hub. Also, managing the recruitment, training and monitoring of all Online Speaking examiners for the Global VCS hub and IOL platform, the role also provides support to the IDP network of Administrators and Examiner Trainers managing online speaking tests on the Speaking Examiner System (SES) at test centres.
This role requires management experience with a proven ability to achieve objectives operating within complex organisational structures.
Key accountabilities
Build capacity of the Global VCS Hub(s) to support the IDP test centre network by ensuring adequate numbers of suitably qualified examiners are recruited, trained, and monitored
Manage examiner performance via Partner agreed monitoring processes and ensure all marking on SES is completed within SLA
Manage and conduct IELTS Online Speaking Examiner training events and webinars online, including that for Examiner Trainers.
Implement and develop global PSN policy recommendations for the delivery of Online Speaking tests.
Work with the PSN Manager and relevant Partner Work Groups to develop and review PSN policies, objectives, and strategies for the management of Speaking Examiner standards.
Work with support staff including administrative, technical and/or professional staff to contribute to the effective development of the Speaking Examiner System (SES) and testing platform
Work closely with the PSN Online Speaking Administrator (as required) in the scheduling and allocation of examiners for test centres requesting services from the Global Hub; as well as meeting demands for Online Speaking examiners across all IDP programs
Lead initial implementation meetings with Administrators to ensure test centres are fully supported in VCS implementation and onboarding phases
Design and create online training courses for the global network of Examiners, Examiner Trainers and Examiner Support Coordinators.
Participate and engage with internal and external working groups with a range of stakeholders.

People and Global Participation
Contribute to building a positive work environment within the team based on a shared commitment to IDP’s values and quality
Use wide-ranging data to analyse and report on systems, examiner standards, marking, examiner utilisation, scheduling, systems issues for use in planning, cost modelling and future developments
Engage and collaborate with Speaking Examiners in Australia, Canada, Egypt, as well as IDP India marking Hubs, and UK-based partner personnel at Cambridge English and the British Council as required
Engage and collaborate with VCS IELTS IDP Test Centre Administrators and Examiner Trainers
Participate in Partner Working Groups as required
Required experience
Certified IELTS Speaking at Examiner Trainer level
Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience
Organisational skills and ability to maintain focus under pressure
Extensive management expertise
Ability to work with a degree of autonomy.
Ability to manage a large functional unit with a diverse or complex set of functions and significant resources.
Experience managing implementation of policies requiring a high degree of knowledge and sensitivity.
Ability to work with a range of learning management and content creation systems
Proven experience working in an online environment
Examiner trainer experience preferred
