About the team
The Deloitte Global Trade Advisory (GTA) practice is a national practice within Deloitte Tax & Legal’s Indirect Tax practice. GTA focuses on improving the transactional and trading environment of businesses. As part of our GTA team, you’ll provide consulting advice and compliance expertise to clients across a wide range of global trade matters, including import and export compliance and strategy, allowing national importers and exporters navigate the dynamic global trade landscape.
Our main priority is to ensure that we are always able to help our clients align their business and trade strategies and to pursue these in a cost effective and compliant way.
What will your typical day look like?
As a Global Trade Analyst, you will work with Australian and multinational companies and have the rare opportunity to learn from global leaders in this field to develop your knowledge and expertise in Global Trade. You will be advising Australian and foreign multinational companies on global import and export strategies and compliance and supporting and learning from our Managers, Senior Managers, Directors and Partners as part of a dynamic and growing team.
Your day-to-day tasks may include:
Researching Trade legislation (including the Customs Act 1901), regulations and cases to develop written client advice Preparing reports, undertaking reviews and advising on customs duty/excise duty taxation matters such as mergers & acquisitions Providing customs duty taxation advice on trade compliance operational structures, plans and operations Examining import and export data and utilising data analytics to identify trade opportunities/ issues and preparing import taxation reports Liaising with the Australian Border Force on behalf of clients in relation to customs duty taxation matters and with the Australian Taxation Office in relation to excise duty taxation matters Developing Trade internal control systems for clients Drafting Ruling applications to government in relation to customs tariff classification, valuation and origin Monitoring changes in global trade regulations nad industry trends to provide trade policy advisory servicesExperience working in Global Trade/Customs will be an advantage for applicants.

A degree in Law, Business, Licensed Customs Broker certification or similar Experience / a strong interest in Global Trade and advising large multinational importers and exporters on trade matters Excellent communication and presentation skills and with a high attention to detail The ability to think strategically to achieve objectives and build strong relationships-
