About You:
With a solid technical background and the ability to provide clear guidance on complex issues—especially those related to variations—you are well-equipped to collaborate effectively with contractors and foster strong, lasting relationships. You ensure that Hydro's needs are fully met including safety and environmental standards. You hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, with post-graduate studies in contracts and contract administration being highly desirable. A current driver’s licence is also required. You bring over 10 years of experience in civil construction, particularly in the technical and commercial administration of contracts, with experience from both the contractor and client perspectives. Managing civil construction contracts exceeding $10 million is crucial, and experience as a contract Superintendent is preferred. Additionally, you are proficient in preparing, assessing, and negotiating variations and claims related to time and cost, as well as involvement in drafting and developing contracts with clear specifications and commercial terms.
About the role:
You will provide commercial and contractual expertise for the management of construction contracts associated with the Tarraleah Upgrade. Your key responsibilities will include ensuring strict adherence to contract terms, including issuing directions, assessing variations for cost and time, and handling progress claims. You will play a role in improving contract administration systems, maximising value from contracts typically valued between $10 million and $50 million, while managing commercial risks and complying with Hydro Tasmania's delegations. Building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders will be essential for understanding contracts comprehensively, managing variations and claims, and reporting performance against KPIs. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of contract documentation, procurement, and negotiation processes.
