About the program

Our Youth Services arm brings together a suite of Alcohol and Other Drug and wellbeing support Services, education, engagement, early intervention or group intervention to support vulnerable you people.

And this is where you come in

We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Youth Outreach Worker to join the team at our Youth Hub based in Moorabbin.

This is a full - time role providing outreach support and case management services to young people experiencing issues with alcohol or other drugs. In this role, you will be providing drop-in services to local youth related agencies whilst you will actively participate in case reviews and secondary consultations.

  • Undertake assessments, provide case management, crisis intervention, outreach, advocacy and supported referral to young people presenting with problematic substance abuse issues.
  • Work within harm minimization framework to reduce the risks associated with alcohol and other drugs to young people.
  • Provide assessment, support, and case management on an outreach basis to young people in their own environment.
  • Maximize flexibility in treatment and support services so that, where possible and appropriate, young people can maintain their current environment with minimal disruption to themselves and others.
  • Offer an outreach service to clients where access to the centre is difficult or the type of service is best delivered off site.
  • Provide secondary consultation and training and education/ information sessions in relation to alcohol and other dug issues

Who we are looking for

  • Ideally 1 to 2 years' experience in a youth or Outreach capacity.
  • Experience case managing young people and understanding problematic substance abuse issues including Dual Diagnosis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of alcohol and other drugs service provision to young people.
  • Knowledge of the psychosocial issues affecting young people with problematic substance abuse.
  • An interpersonal style that fosters the wellbeing of the young people that access Windana services.
  • Ability to work independently and harmoniously within a team to achieve team goals.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, families, colleagues, stakeholders, and other service providers
  • Capacity to work within an Outreach model of
  • Demonstrate understanding of the importance and application of inclusive practice when working with people from diverse communities, such as cultures, genders, sexualities, bodies, abilities, spiritualities, ages and backgrounds
  • AOD Certificate IV or with the willingness to complete studies within first 6 months in employment
  • An undergraduate degree in youth work, social work or counselling would be highly regarded.
