Role Description/Criteria
St Robert’s Catholic Primary School, Newtown, is seeking applications for a dynamic classroom teacher. Our school is a vibrant, friendly, and welcoming community and we are seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher who will embrace the opportunity to engage our students in a knowledge-rich curriculum within a faith-filled environment.
We welcome the ‘wisdom of the experienced’ or the ‘enthusiasm of the new’ who wish to continue their professional growth and development in a school community that promotes and embeds evidence-based practices that align with the Vision for Instruction. St Robert's uses a low-variance, knowledge-rich curriculum to support student outcomes. Explicit Direct Instruction Engagement Norms sit at the core of classroom management at St Robert's.

The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic classroom practitioner familiar with the Victorian Curriculum who can collaborate with others as part of a level team, working towards improving learning outcomes for all students.
A passion for learning and teaching, a working knowledge of contemporary learning, and a strong commitment to professional learning are essential.
School tour is available: Wednesday 30/10/2024 at 4.30pm
Special Requirements:
- full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching
- accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic Primary School is desirable
- committed to child safety, to maintaining best practices to ensure this, and to ongoing evaluation of these practices
- only applications that include the attached application form will be considered
- list at least three referees, including the current principal, where applicable
- willingness to undertake the SOLAR course
- desire to teach within a SOR/ SoL classroom
- an ability to apply Engagement Norms and TAPPLE within the classroom
- be familiar with Spelling Mastery
- understand cognitive load theory
- align with the MACS Vision for Instruction

Selection Criteria
The successful applicant will:
1. Be faith-filled with a strong commitment to the Catholic Ethos of the school and to the spiritual, emotional, social, and educational well-being of all students.
2. Display passion and enthusiasm in their professional interactions.
3. Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the capacity to continue to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
4. Use supportive behaviour management practices.
5. Display a strong understanding of contemporary learning practices, including explicit direct instruction and how to use such strategies to impact student learning positively. Be familiar with or open to working with a low-variance curriculum.
