We are looking for a Security Engineer to join our fabulous internal IT & Security & Risk team on a permanent basis. Reporting into our Head of Information Security and Risk, the role will support our IT, Security and Risk team in managing endpoints, network and applications from a security perspective.

The role

The Security Engineer position is integral to assisting the IT, Security, and Risk team. This role focuses on enhancing our security posture across various domains, including:

  • designing and implementing security best practices for Standard Operating Environment (SOE) policies, mobile device management (MDM), identity and access management (IDAM), end-point protection (for laptops and servers), Microsoft Azure infrastructure, M365, email protection and network components
  • vulnerability and patch management on endpoints and
  • assisting incident management activities
  • managing security related changes

This role also includes supporting compliance activities (ISO 27001 NIST and Essential 8) ) from a technology security perspective.

At Nous Group, the Security & Risk team's capabilities encompass a broad range of tasks integral to maintaining a robust security posture. The Security Engineers’ role includes providing input to security risk assessments, participating in  security assessments and audits, and providing guidance to both technical and non-technical stakeholders on compliance with security best practices. They are also responsible for identifying threats, vulnerabilities,  participating in incident response activities, and providing input to the security training for employees. Additionally, the role involves confidently explaining to Nous’ clients what technical security controls are in place and managing security related changes through our managed service provider.

And the practical experience…

  • Industry experience, from a background in networking or cloud infrastructure engineering and extensive experience in Microsoft suite
  • Experience in working in a corporate environment, e.g. professional services, law firm, or office environment
  • Ability assess IT environments (networks, applications, and cloud infrastructure) against security best practices recommend the best options from multiple perspectives, i.e., functional, ease of implementing the change, technological constraints security, impact to end users, etc
  • Ability to design and deploy technical changes
  • Ability to communicate to technical stakeholders in the IT service desk, infrastructure, applications and the security and risk teams as well as to non-technical stakeholders such as clients
  • Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, prioritise appropriately and manage time effectively
  • High level of integrity
  • CompTIA Security + (desirable)
  • Microsoft security certifications (desirable)
  • Knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST, Essential 8 (desirable)
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Okta, Crowdstrike, Intune. Mimecast (desirable)
