Role Overview

As Strategic Planner, you will be responsible for contributing to a strategic framework and direction for land use planning strategies, policies, and environmental management in Sutherland Shire. 

Key Responsibilities

As a Strategic Planner, you will:

  • Contribute to planning and decision-making processes in the preparation of land use planning strategies and policies for Sutherland Shire 
  • Collaborate with project teams dealing with issues associated with the functions and responsibilities of Strategic Planning
  • Undertake research and prepare policy papers and reports for Council’s consideration
  • Assist customers with planning enquiries

Your Profile

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in planning within NSW, in either local government, state government or consultancy, as well as:

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental planning or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of planning issues and practises.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in IT, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Experience with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, GIS, and computer modelling is desirable.

  • Package: From $82,668 to $112,360 gross p.a. plus 11% superannuation. Salary will be negotiated based on skills and experience.
  • Hours of work: Permanent full-time position, 35 hours per week with the option of a 19 day month
