About the Role:
Join our PICU leadership team as we expand our services as one of two tertiary Paediatric ICUs in Victoria
We currently have two Fixed Term part time Associate Nurse Manager positions available, working across a 24/7 rotating roster until December 2025.
PICU is led by a dedicated and enthusiastic team of medical, nursing, administration and support service staff and committed allied health professionals. We believe in supporting each other, in being compassionate and in providing the very best care to the children and families in our unit. The Associate Nurse Manager position is a clinical leadership role responsible for assisting the Nurse Manager with the day-to-day operations, clinical outcomes and management of our PICU. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, transitions and evaluation of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for our patients and their families
- Role modelling nursing excellence and acting as a mentor for all staff on our unit
- Developing, promoting and progressing continuous quality improvement initiatives across the unit, with the support of the Nurse Manager
About Us:
PICU at Monash Children’s Hospital (MCH) is a state of the art 10-bed unit with a complex patient mix, and provides 24/7 care for critically ill children from babies to adolescents. MCH PICU is one of two tertiary paediatric intensive care referral units in Victoria and is accredited by the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand. Our PICU admits over 700 children a year with a broad range of general and subspecialty paediatric presentations as well as surgical conditions.
About You:
You have been growing your critical care leadership skills or you are an accomplished ANM; either way, you are ready to take the next step in your career and continue as a leader in one of only 2 Paediatric ICU’s in the state. We are looking for someone with demonstrated leadership capability to join our highly skilled leadership team in PICU and support our Nurse Manager as we expand our services. You will be a nurse who:
- Is skilled in critical care settings in either PICU, AICU, NICU and/or ED, with current experience in these departments
- Is looking to extend on the leadership experience you have gained
- Enjoys mentoring junior staff and acting as a support for your unit
- Actively role models clinical excellence and our Monash icare values
- Understands the importance of family centred care and can build trust relationships with patients and families
- Communicates clearly and effectively, and enjoys working collaboratively with a wide multidisciplinary team
- Is committed to taking ownership of a portfolio(s) contributing to ward quality improvements and National Standards
What you need:
In order to be considered for this role, you will need
- Post Graduate Qualifications in Critical Care, ideally Paediatric Critical Care
- Recent extensive Critical care nursing experience, paediatrics preferred (Minimum 2 years clinical experience post completion of Graduate Qualification in Critical Care)
- Demonstrable leadership experience, ideally in a critical care environment
