Additional information:
This role is Temporary, Full-time (12 months fixed term contract).
The role is based in IKEA Service Office, Tempe NSW.
The internal job title for this role is Legal Specialist.
The Hiring Manager for this role is Jimmy Wang Country Legal Manager.
This role is open to hybrid working including a minimum of 3 days in the Service Office.

About this work area
As Legal Counsel your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Collaborate and build strong relations with stakeholders to secure mutually sustainable solutions.
Review, draft and negotiate commercial agreements and legal documents.
Pro-actively support management and other stakeholders by securing rights and assess obligations in order to reduce exposure to legal risks and to optimise business opportunities.
Contribute and support the implementation of the Business Plan, development projects and corresponding roadmaps.
Implement standard processes and ways of working for the legal area within IKEA Australia and IKEA New Zealand.
Develop competence and provide education to relevant stakeholders in the area of laws and regulations.
Keep updated in relevant international and local legal and governance developments, including changes in international, domestic and case laws and regulations
Liase and cooperate with Global Legal & Governance to secure alignment of country agenda.
As a Legal Counsel, you are:
Able to proactively provide expert knowledge around legal topics and influence stakeholders to secure the business from a legal and governance perspective.
Equipped with strong stakeholder management and communication skills to influence and advise on key legal topics.
Prepared in negotiation and take initiative to explore all alternatives when handling legal matters to reach a desirable outcome for all relevant parties.
Interested in exploring and implementing digital and online tool solutions that build efficiency.
Excellent in time management and handling multiple and conflicting deadlines.
Capable of working autonomously, in a team environment and across remote settings.
Detailed orientated and maintain high standards when getting tasks done.
Someone with personal qualities that align with IKEAs vision, IKEA values and IKEA ways of working.
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:
Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor with 3 to 6 years PQE with a well-regarded law firm and in house experience.
A current Australian or New Zealand practising certificate.
Broad knowledge and background in corporate and commercial law, consumer law, and property and construction law.
Strong commercial acumen with solid experience in contract review, negotiation and drafting.
Sound knowledge and experienced in application of the law, legal systems and government policies.
Passion to grow and gain experience in the following areas of law: consumer and competition, marketing and advertising, general commercial (including logistics, transport and digital), property and construction, dispute resolution, mergers and acquisition, intellectual property, employment and WHS, franchise, finance, insurance and corporate governance.
