About the role

:

This position is responsible for leading in the provision of quality pastoral and spiritual care in line with the Vision, Mission, Values, Theology of Care, and strategic objectives within a multicultural, multi-faith environment.

This position is responsible for supporting staff and volunteers in the integration of pastoral and spiritual care in the context of the provision of customer centric care in a highly complex environment, in a way that celebrates our diversity and changing lifestyles.

Duties:

Provide quality pastoral and spiritual care for residents and their families and, where relevant, home care and retirement living customers Ensure that all pastoral and spiritual care needs are regularly appraised. Coordinate appropriate responses to those needs by direct provision of support or by arranging and facilitating others. This may include presence, conversation, ritual, services, sacraments, ceremonies and sharing of sacred spaces and resources Provide integrated leadership working with Operational Line Managers, including attending clinical care meetings, family conferences, and assessing spiritual needs to ensure consistency of service delivery Recruit, train, coordinate and mentor a team of pastoral care volunteers Work in accordance with Baptistcare’s Code of Conduct Ensure safe and sound work practices that comply with Work, Health and Safety policiesand procedures and relevant legislation

The successful applicant will have:

Tertiary qualifications in chaplaincy / pastoral care OR tertiary theological qualifications, e.g. Bachelor or Diploma of Theology/Ministry Ability to demonstrate a high level of Christian spiritual maturity with a pastoral heart Minimum 2 years’ experience in providing pastoral and spiritual care Capable of collaborating effectively with a diverse array of individuals to deliver person-centered care tailored to the needs of older adults A special interest in working with older people, including in dementia and palliative care contexts Flexibility and ability to work independently with minimum supervision, as well as part of an interdisciplinary team Proficient in utilising IT systems for various tasks such as email correspondence, report generation, participation in online meetings, documenting spiritual care activities, and conducting spiritual assessments Valid unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence Working with Children Check 

Conditions of Employment

Willingness to undergo a NDIS clearance check National Police Clearance (screened in accordance with the organisations policies). Valid Driver’s Licence (Car) Willingness to undergo a Pre Employment Medical
