About the Role
In this dynamic role as the Cultural Heritage & Aboriginal Engagement Coordinator , you'll lead our commitment to Aboriginal Engagement, ensuring the implementation of vital cultural heritage agreements for the Cooper Basin. This is a Brisbane based role.Your outstanding coordination, communication and prioritisation skills will be important in fostering and enhancing our relationships with Traditional Owner groups within the Cooper Basin, contributing to a more inclusive and respectful partnership.
Your commitment to creating a meaningful impact that honours cultural heritage and promotes a collaborative progress, is key to this role. Key accountabilities include: Implement and monitor the Aboriginal Engagement Strategy (AES) for Santos. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with key Indigenous groups and relevant government and other external stakeholders. Act as the Santos Company Cooper Basin coordinator with native title claimants regarding land access, consents, cultural heritage, and other obligations in support of operational requirements. Work with relevant Indigenous communities to ensure the development of sustainable relationships between the company and the communities. Provide expert advice to Santos on Indigenous-related issues and strategies. Ensure effective communication with relevant internal stakeholders on issues and actions related to cultural heritage management.

Extensive experience in negotiation involving Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. Sound understanding of the history and culture of aboriginal communities. Knowledge of current government policy frameworks as they relate to Indigenous peoples and particularly in relation to indigenous participation in the resources sector. Exceptional coordination skills and ability to prioritise tasks/requests/goals. Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal. Robust experience working in a very dynamic workplace while staying organised and positive Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office software. Possession of a current Australian Drivers Licence. Ability to travel to Cooper Basin and spend nights away from the home base as required
Ideally, you are experienced with Australian native title and cultural heritage legislation and practice, with specific understanding of native titles in the oil and gas industry.
You have an existing network within the Aboriginal communities, as well as extensive negotiation and mediation skills and experience, particularly in matters involving industry and Aboriginal peoples.
