The Role

Reporting to the General Manager of Property, the Property Services Manager oversees maintenance operations across our residential aged care portfolio, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and implementing best practices to support the safety, comfort and well-being of residents and staff. This role also encompasses comprehensive maintenance oversight, including property, building and equipment management.

Key Accountabilities

  • Compliance and Accreditation: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant aged care accreditation standards. Ensure compliance with organisational frameworks, systems, processes, and procedures. Maintain documentation and records to support accreditation audits and inspections.
  • Operational Efficiency: Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimise reactive maintenance needs. Monitor and analyse maintenance performance metrics to identify and address inefficiencies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage Facility Managers and maintenance staff to ensure effective leadership, support, and integration within SCC's property division, prioritising operational efficiency and safety. Coordinate with external contractors to ensure timely and quality completion of outsourced maintenance tasks.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations in all maintenance activities.
  • Resource Management: Manage maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources. Oversee procurement and inventory management of maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Quality Improvement: Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives related to maintenance operations. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance maintenance service quality.
  • Crisis management: Lead the organisations response to property crisis, bringing together key stake holders to ensure effective communication and timely resolution.

This position is offered as full-time and will be based in the Epping headquarters. Regional travel will be required. A company car will be provided.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in property or facilities management, preferably in the aged care or healthcare sector.
  • Experience in leading and developing maintenance teams, including conducting performance reviews and implementing professional development plans.
  • Experience in managing relationships with external contractors, ensuring high-quality and timely completion of outsourced maintenance tasks.
  • Experience in implementing and managing environmentally sustainable practices.

Essential

  • A diploma or degree in Facilities Management, Building Services, Engineering, or a related field, attained or working towards.
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or a related field.

Desirable

  • Certification in facilities management (e.g., Certified Facility Manager - CFM) or additional qualifications in aged care management.
  • Training or certification in leadership or management.
  • Training in emergency and crisis management
