As a Veterinary Nurse at Flinders View Vets, you will be an integral part of our small but dedicated team, delivering compassionate and personalised care to our animal patients. Working closely with our veterinarians, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the well-being of our patients and their owners. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the veterinarian during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures, providing support and ensuring the smooth flow of operations.
- Administering medications, treatments, and vaccinations as prescribed by the veterinarian, with careful attention to detail and patient comfort.
- Performing diagnostic tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and imaging procedures, and assisting in the interpretation of results.
- Monitoring anesthesia during surgical procedures, maintaining patient vital signs, and assisting with post-operative care and recovery.
- Providing compassionate care and handling to animal patients, including grooming, feeding, and exercise as needed.
- Educating pet owners on proper animal care, including medication administration, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, with a focus on attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Assisting with clinic cleanliness and organisation, including sterilisation of equipment and inventory management.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a veterinary nurse or veterinary technician required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a veterinary nurse in a clinical setting, with a preference for experience in a small team environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and interact effectively with clients.
- Compassionate demeanour and genuine empathy for animals and their owners, with a commitment to providing high-quality care.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility and adaptability to meet changing needs.
- Willingness to work flexible hours to ensure continuity of patient care.
