You'll represent exclusive and trendy eyewear brands like Kuboraum,
L.A. Eyeworks, Dita Eyewear, Face-a-Face, Garrett Leight, Moscot, Mykita, and Lindberg; known for superior craftsmanship, innovative designs, and unique styles, allowing you to offer standout selections to our clients.

And unlike impersonal 'big-box' franchises, our practice is built on genuine care, trust and personal relationships. Here, you can provide personalised care and build meaningful connections with clients.

Our Richmond store, located on Swan Street, is at the heart of a vibrant community. For 25 years, we've been the destination store for delivering premium eye care and cutting-edge designer eyewear to generations of families. As part of the Richmond team, you'll engage with a diverse clientele and be a key player in a trusted local business known for its exceptional service and innovative approach to eyewear.

 

 

About the role

We have a full-time opportunity for an Optical Dispenser/Optical Assistant to join our tight-knit team. Our clientele is proactive with their optical care, and as a team, we work together to offer exceptional customer experiences. This involves, but is not limited to:

  • Advising on Frame Options: Applying your technical knowledge in the selection and fit with the appropriate eyeglasses and lenses, for clients based on their prescriptions. Offering style options that best suit the client’s lifestyle and personal flair. Ensuring clients feel confident and satisfied with their eyewear choices, demonstrating genuine care for their comfort and happiness.
  • Client Assistance and Sales: Providing attentive customer service to all clients ensuring their selection needs are met with patience and understanding. Performing tasks efficiently and finalising transactions, ensuring smooth operations and a seamless client experience.
  • Administration Tasks: Efficiently handling orders, appointment bookings and client enquiries with a friendly and professional demeanour. Ensuring accurate scheduling and prompt responses to client needs, contributing to a positive overall experience.
  • Maintaining Practice Presentation: Keeping the practice clean, organised, and visually appealing. Creating attractive merchandise displays that enhance the customer experience and reflect the high standards of the practice. Be part of the team that curates the range that we showcase.
  • Stock Lists for Marketing Purposes: Assisting generating stock lists for marketing purposes. Keeping up-to-date with inventory to support effective marketing strategies and ensure the availability of popular products.

 

 

 

Our ideal candidate

To be successful in the role you require:

  • Experience in Optical Dispensing: Ideally 2 years of experience in optical dispensing, although candidates with less experience may be considered if they demonstrate the right skills and attitude.
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills, both face-to-face and over the phone. Ability to convey clear and positive communication, showing care and problem-solving abilities. Exceptional customer service skills, reflecting the ethos of the business.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy when dealing with prescriptions and managing appointment bookings and enquiries. Precision is critical in ensuring customer satisfaction in a detail-oriented profession.
  • Technical Proficiency: Commitment to maintaining and extending knowledge through professional development and association. Curiosity and a passion for staying updated with the latest innovations in frames, lenses, technology, and trends. We improve people’s vision and enjoy being good at it.
  • Sales Skills: Proficiency in selling optical products such as frames, lenses, and sunglasses. Ability to balance optometry services with retail objectives.
  • Reliability: Punctuality and consistency in attendance. Dependability in both individual and team contexts, is crucial for a bricks-and-mortar business.
  • Self-Motivation: Strong self-motivation and a reliable work ethic. Willingness to contribute proactively to the team, ensuring collective success.

Work Hours

Full-time: Tuesday-Friday 10.00am-6.00pm and Saturday 10.00am-3.00pm.

We are closed on Sundays and Mondays.
