We are seeking a passionate people leader with a strong Reduction process focus, as well as strong knowledge of cell start up. The leader must also have a strong collaboration mindset to deliver on cell turnaround drumbeat for all three Reduction Lines and to lead our crews to success in an exciting time at Boyne Smelters Limited.

Reporting to the Manager – Reduction line 3, key accountabilities of this roles includes;

Proactively improving the work environment to reduce health, safety and environmental risks;
-
Supporting your team to improve safety culture through the continued implementation of the Safety Maturity Model and RTSPS
-
Implementing and sustaining process safety standards for critical risks;
-
Driving operational and technical excellence by mentoring and identifying development opportunities for team members;
-
Ensuring team objectives / work schedules are maintained in line with production expectations;
-
Optimising plant performance by leading a diverse team in continual improvement projects;
-
Establishing and maintaining key routines and systems to produce quality products;
-
Working closely with technical and operations stakeholders both on site and within the wider business.

The successful applicant will ideally have a background in Smelting or a similar heavy industry with complex procedures and a strong quality assurance focus

Excellent ability to interpret and challenge data/metrics

Experience in a process related role previously

Strong Stakeholder Engagement skills and ability to interface with a wide range of stakeholders

Where you will be working
Boyne Smelters Limited (BSL)
Opened in 1982, Boyne Smelters Limited is Australia’s second largest aluminium smelter with a 1,000-person strong workforce. Located approximately 20 kilometres south east of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast, BSL produces around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum.
Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant, aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines, and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship. The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina.
