Electorate Officer B

About the position:

Mr. Ian Goodenough MP, Federal member for the seat of Moore (WA) in Perth’s northern suburbs, is seeking a highly motivated Electorate Officer B to join his hardworking team on an ongoing full-time basis. The position will primarily be based in his Electorate Office in Joondalup, WA.

The successful candidate will complement the existing skills and roles within the office and must demonstrate the ability to work productively in a small team.

Primary duties of the position are, but are not limited to:

• Responsibility for responding to constituent inquiries, telephone enquiries and written correspondence.
• Liaison with relevant stakeholders - Government Departments and other political offices on behalf of constituents of Moore. 
• General administrative tasks within the Electorate Office as required, including handling inquiries from constituents who visit the Office seeking assistance.
• Attending community events and meetings with the Member, which may require working on weekends or public holidays.

The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• A customer-service focus and a pleasant demeanor in dealing with people.
• The maturity to deal with members of the public who are experiencing distress.
• The ability to build networks across offices and agencies to deliver outcomes.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• The ability to deal with competing demands on your time.
• Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office 365 and Excel.
• An understanding of the Australian political system and an interest in political issues.

Employment conditions:

The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement2020-23 which include:

• A commencing salary between $71,245 and $83,179 will be negotiated depending on relevant skills and experience.
• An additional optional allowance may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.
• Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).
• An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.

An initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.
