We are seeking a talented Business Analyst to join our growing Projects and Systems team.

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to support CIS with delivering planned business objectives and initiatives, by gathering and documenting business requirements. This involves working with internal and external development teams, managing vendor relationships, and assisting with the planning and implementation of new initiatives on our core business platforms.

The successful candidate will work closely with frontline teams to extend existing functionality and develop new functionality within the CIS core platforms. They will facilitate the analysis of complex business issues and emerging opportunities. They will come with proven business analyst experience and have strong skills in understanding complex platforms.

The role is based in Kawana on the Sunshine Coast and is an ‘in-office’ role.

Role Accountabilities

As a team member within CIS, we expect you to role model the values, driving results and outcomes with high levels of integrity and effort. It is expected that you will demonstrate commercial discipline, challenger ambition, effective risk management and a ‘One Team’ mindset. Daily you will be accountable for:

  • Facilitate workshops with business teams to gather requirements.
  • Document business and non-functional requirements for development.
  • Process mapping existing and new processes.
  • Risk and control mapping.
  • Analyse and triage reported issues and requested changes to core systems and follow these through to implementation.
  • Engage and support internal and external development teams throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support and assist with the execution of UAT.
  • Ensure test results are reviewed and challenged by subject matter experts.
  • Work within a multi skilled team to facilitate the successful implementation of changes and projects.
  • Communicate effectively with Business Partners and Technology stakeholders, ensuring a high level of consultation on systems and business practices.
  • Prepare process and standard operating procedures.

What experience you’ll bring;

To excel in this role, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • 2+ years Business Analyst and/or application support, ideally within the Financial Services or Insurance industry.
  • Relevant qualification and/or certification is highly regarded.
  • Experience with SQL, Bigquery and PowerBI highly regarded.
  • Experience with the UAT process and knowledge of testing methodologies, strategies, plans and test cases.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, as well as the ability to meet tight deadlines in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies (AGILE, Waterfall).
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence (defect reporting and management tools).
  • Demonstrated analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills and abilities.
  • A “can do”, team focused attitude and the ability to adapt rapidly and to new concepts.
  • Commercial acumen and high attention to detail.
  • The ability to identify and manage business and people risks appropriately and in line with business guidelines.
  • A calm and composed demeanour with high levels of resilience.
  • Highly proficient in Excel.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding or risk and compliance standards.
