About the Role:

This is a part time fixed term position within the Department of Adolescent Medicine Gender Service program, the role is 30.4 hours a fortnight with the required working days being Thursday & Friday. The role is fixed term from 1st July 2024 to 30th June 2025.

You will be responsible for supporting and assessing trans and gender diverse children and youth with concerns or needs relating to communicative or vocal identity, social communication skills or speech and language difficulties.

Classification for this position will range from VW6-VW9 .

What you’ll achieve:

  • Develop and deliver excellent, evidence-based and holistic clinical care to children and families presenting with a broad range of complex needs.
  • Oversee the development, update and implementation of treatment protocols across the clinical streams.
  • Promote and develop partnerships with healthcare and community providers as well as discipline networks.
  • Promote a workplace culture in which the views of patients and families about treatment options are valued and deemed necessary by staff.
  • Set a positive culture and lead by example.
  • Supervise and educate speech pathology students undertaking clinical placements and manage placement allocation within the team.

Your skills and experience:

  • Bachelor of Speech Pathology or equivalent tertiary qualification
  • Eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia
  • Meet the requirements of the Speech Pathology Australia Professional Self-Regulation program
  • Upholds the Speech Pathology Australia Code of Conduct
  • Experience in assessment and management of children’ young people who have concerns about their communicative/vocal identity in the context of gender dysphoria or being gender questioning.
  • Minimum of 7 year’s relevant clinical and leadership experience - Desirable

About the Department:

The RCH Gender Service is a Victorian state-wide service providing multidisciplinary care for trans and gender diverse (TGD) children and adolescents up to 16 years of age. The assessment, treatment and support provided by the Gender Service is consistent with the Australian Standards of Care and Treatment Guidelines for trans and gender diverse children and adolescents (v1.4 2023).
