Overview:

  • Casual positions, paid at an hourly rate: $84.45 teaching duties; $48.56 non-teaching duties.
  • Upto 20 teaching hours per week (5-12 weeks engagement period)
  • Successful candidates should be available 5 days per week (Mon-Fri) or 3 consecutive days per week (Mon-Wed or Wed-Fri)

About the Team

RMIT English Worldwide (REW)

The REW  provides students with the English and academic skills they need to succeed at university. Successfully completing REW’s English for Academic Purposes program allows direct entry to university without having to sit a further external English language test.

The REW team is committed to excellence in delivery and in supporting students to achieve their academic goals. REW teachers are committed to providing a supportive environment in which students can achieve their potential.

About the Role

REW is regularly opening new classes running between one and ten weeks and is in need of casual teachers who are available to teach up to five days a week.

Casual English Language Teachers are responsible for the informed delivery and associated administration of English language classes with the support and guidance of the Deputy Director, REW, Academic Coordinators and/or delegated mentor.

Casual Language Educators are invited to contribute to strengthening the delivery of the curriculum through actions such as the development of supplementary materials, supporting other language educators and colleagues, and identifying and implementing process improvements.  REW’s in-house curriculum streamlines lesson planning and delivery through our learning management system.

Our teachers also have opportunities to apply for teaching assignments with RMIT Vietnam's School of English and University Pathways (SEUP). This is a great way to broaden your teaching experience in a supportive environment

To be successful in this position, you will have:

Essential

  • Bachelor degree or Diploma (equivalent to at least 3 years full-time study in duration)
  • Recognised TESOL qualifications.
  • TESOL experience, both face-to-face and online
  • Current Working with Children Clearance
  • Demonstrated ability to teach across a range of levels and programs
  • Demonstrated ability to use a range of applications to design and deliver effective digital learning and teaching content in online and blended contexts
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Sound organisational, administrative and time management skills to enable satisfactory completion of teaching-related tasks
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Well-developed understanding of current teaching, learning and assessment theory and practice

Desirable

  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in teaching English for Academic Purposes leading to direct entry to university courses, both online and face-to-face
  • Offshore TESOL experience
  • Teacher training experience
  • Qualifications at post-graduate diploma level or higher in Applied Linguistics, TESOL or Education
  • Qualifications and experience in digital curriculum and/or assessment design and development
