Join us at Suncorp Bank as a Home Lending Data Scientist, where you'll lead the charge in leveraging data to drive innovative solutions and enhance our Home Lending practices. You'll play a pivotal role in tackling complex business challenges, including customer remediation, while serving as the central point of contact for all things data within our Home Lending division.

Our Data Scientist will work across our Home Lending business and with broader stakeholders to understand issues and uplift our data capabilities. Although the role will primarily be focused on the using data to solve and understand business issues, it will be required to run various reports from time to time.

What you’ll do:

Take the lead in analysing, understanding, and designing solutions for business problems using data-driven insights Create ideas for tackling business problems, while exploring and applying analytics methodologies Serve as the custodian of Home Lending's data, ensuring alignment with best practices and driving initiatives to enhance our data capabilities and reporting efficiency while mitigating data risks. Provide mentoring and support to peers and encourage collaboration to deliver quality innovative analytic solutions Provide thought leadership in advanced analytics and modelling techniques Act as a key consultant in the development of new analytics products and strategies Effectively communicate concepts and translate solutions in appropriate business terms Create productive and positive relationships with key stakeholders to truly understand what is important to the users

What you’ll bring:

A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Information Technology, or a related quantitative discipline, coupled with 5+ years of commercial experience in Banking, Information Technology, or a similar field. Proficiency in SQL is essential, with experience delivering BI solutions in a complex enterprise environment considered highly desirable Project management experience and a proven ability to influence stakeholders, present compelling insights, and collaborate effectively A strong customer and user focus, coupled with the ability to identify and implement the best solutions to address a variety of business opportunities Demonstrated experience in analytical thinking, problem solving and executive engagement Working experience and knowledge of data warehouse concepts and sourcing data from core systems and BI tools (i.e. Tableau, Cognos, SQL, Netezza) An innate curiosity, resourcefulness, and innovative mindset, coupled with effective executive communication skills and a self-motivated approach to achieving results
