Ventia’s Telecommunications Unify Network Contract in North QLD requires an experienced Supervisor to join them. You will coordinate and direct a team of multi disciplined trade-based personnel in activities supporting this 24/7 maintenance and optimisation project. You must be flexible and have a willingness to be on call and deal with issues after hours. You can be based in Cairns or Townsville.

About the role
As the Supervisor your accountabilities encompass Leadership, Safety and Environment, Program and Resource Management, Quality and Community and Stakeholder Engagement. Your duties will include 

Focussing on site visits and audits to ensure compliance to contract specifications and standards including safety and quality Management of staff (internal and external), ensuring work is performed safely and to specifications, develop professional plans for direct reports and foster a unified team environment  Strategic and proactive planning, forecasting, rostering of staff & contractors, resources & equipment, and logistics & travel (particularly during wet season) Identifying shortfalls / gaps and build a wider base of contractors Attending and leading various meetings internal and external and preparing reports and presentations as required by Ventia, Client and contract stakeholders Liaise with regional community and stakeholder personnel to ensure environment and community obligations under the contract are met and deal with any queries or complaints

About you
It is essential that you have strong knowledge of Copper and Fibre network infrastructures and experience in a similar supervisory role (civil construction and cabling works). 

Possess high attention to detail with strong leadership, problem solving and time management experience. Sound computer and communication skills Understanding of fibre splicing and terminating Understand copper jointing activities on the distribution network including lead and plastic sheath cables and ability to interpret cable pair and jumpering records Experienced in identifying underground services, reading network plans and DBYD plans Knowledge of NBN CRQ processes Understanding and knowledge of types of joint closures, heat shrink / mechanical, and copper / fibre testing equipment Current drivers’ licence, construction white card, traffic management and first aid and CPR Certificate III in Telecommunications
