Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Scientific / Technical Officer (Biochemistry & Pharmacy) to join Faculty Operations, Faculty of Health, Academic Division.
The Scientific/Technical Officer (Biochemistry & Pharmacy) provides specialist technical expertise within a highly professional technical team to support teaching and research within the Faculty.The role requires discipline specific knowledge to engage with and provide high quality technical support to academics and students within the Biochemistry and Pharmacy and related disciplines.

The Faculty of Health operates across the university’s two campuses, Kelvin Grove and Gardens Point, and several distributed sites. The proximity of the Kelvin Grove campus to hospital facilities at Herston provides the faculty with a distinct competitive advantage and a renowned precinct that offers transformative education, aligned biomedical research and industry engagement..
What you need to succeed
- Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of a Bachelor degree in Pharmacy or a related field; an Associate Diploma level qualification with at least two years subsequent relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education, or training. Biochemistry discipline experience would be advantageous.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively connect and collaborate with colleagues and work in teams.
- Demonstrated ability to embrace and participate in change and to effectively organise and prioritise work in order to meet deadlines and competing priorities, without compromising quality or compliance obligations in a technical environment.
- Well-developed problem solving skills including the ability to contribute to continuous improvement, and apply sound reasoning and judgement in the identification and resolution of work issues.
- Demonstrated understanding of theoretical aspects of Pharmacy and experience in the practical application of relevant scientific/technical techniques, including safe use and maintenance of pharmacy equipment, where relevant.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately review and interpret instructions of a conceptual nature; to relate relevant knowledge to provide maintenance and repairs to equipment, and to produce technical reports, communications and documentation to a high standard.
