Job Description:

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will be responsible for the implementation of the mine’s ventilation system and the establishment of effective standards of ventilation for the mine, while your diverse capability in communicating with a range of stakeholders, you will provide strategic advice on short to medium term mine development to optimise the value of the mine in terms of ventilation.

You will also assist with the management, planning, implementation and monitoring of the underground mine ventilation and gas drainage systems to ensure effectiveness against legislation and site requirements. You will be able to display a high level of strategic thinking, planning and problem-solving skills which will be instrumental in your success in this role.

To be successful in the role you will have:

You will hold a Ventilation Officers Practicing Certificate issued by the Board of Examiners Demonstrated experience in an underground coal mining operation as well as specialist knowledge in ventilation. Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems, and a continuous improvement mindset Ability to influence and build relationships throughout the site A strong background in ensuring hazard identification and risk assessment principles, coupled with the compliance of all ventilation matters relating to legislation and the site safety management system Qualifications: Ventilation Officers Practicing Certificate issued by the Board of Examiners Formal qualifications as a Ventilation Officer being recognised by Queensland or the ability to gain mutual recognition.
