The Security Engineer takes ownership of security systems and contributes directly to projects and architecture initiatives. They work with the analyst on our systems, but has a broader scope, and deeper technical knowledge that enables them to configure security systems, and security controls in other IT systems such as Azure, AWS, Check Points, Active Directory, etc.

They will work on:

  • Improving our Security Posture through effectively configuring, monitoring, and maintaining our security tooling as well as working alongside internal and external teams that are responsible for non-security systems.
  • Assisting the Security Analyst, in responding to advanced alerts, or incidents from our Managed Detection and Response Service.
  • Contributing to project and architectural initiatives through a broad understanding of security controls that effectively mitigate risk.
  • Working alongside internal teams with the ability to configure security elements of non-security systems.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot systems with the assistance of internal teams, external support teams, and technology vendors
  • Works with the cyber security operations team, IT team and select external partners to validate and improve key controls
  • Work across the business to provide guidance on implementing security controls in systems outside of our control, or to implement controls where we have access to the systems

With experience working in cyber security, or related systems engineering with strong security elements, we are looking for someone with 

  • Proactive approach to improving the security of the environment.
  • A demonstrable understanding of most, but a strong foundation in one of the following: Identity, networks, cloud, endpoint, data centre, web applications, development.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies.
  • The ability to work autonomously to deliver outcomes.
  • The ability to make recommendations and collaborate on implementing them.
  • Strong attention to detail and troubleshooting ability.
  • High levels of integrity
  • Demonstrated ability to engage business and technology teams to collaborate with them
