Perth, Australia John Holland Full time

About John Holland

At John Holland, our purpose is simple – we transform lives with everything we do.

We’ve always known that infrastructure is about people — our customers, our employees, and the communities in which we work every day.

That’s our difference. Deep experience and capability with a genuine care about creating better lives for people along the way.

Be part of the team that’s up for the challenge of transforming lives for good.

About the Project

Our team will continue to deliver vital track maintenance and construction services for the Public Transport Authority on the Perth Greater Metropolitan Area’s urban rail network.

Our team has remained PTA’s contractor of choice for 26 years with the current contract running until 2032.

The rail maintenance contract includes routine maintenance, fault correction, upgrades and construction of track infrastructure.

About the Role

We are currently looking for a Track Supervisor to work on our rail contract based at our Claisebrook Depot, East Perth, WA.

The role will be to lead and coordinate an internal team to achieve positive outcomes across maintenance and construction projects.

The role will pre-dominantly be nightshift hours (nightshift loading provided) however dayshift will be required from time to time as well as weekend shutdown works.

Responsibilities of the role include;

  • Supervising and coordinating the work of rail maintenance and construction teams
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
  • Monitoring project progress, identifying any issues, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborating with other project stakeholders, the internal team and contractors
  • Conducting regular inspections to assess the quality and progress of the work.
  • Managing resources, including equipment, plant and materials, to meet project requirements
  • Review fortnightly construction program
  • Adhering to project timelines and budget constraints.

About You

  • Strong leadership skills: As a Rail Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of teams. Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and inspire others, delegate tasks effectively, and provide guidance, are crucial.
  • Excellent communication skills: Effective communication is essential when collaborating with project stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, and team members. Clear and concise communication helps ensure that everyone is on the same page and can contribute to the successful completion of the project.
  • Problem-solving abilities: Construction projects often encounter challenges and unforeseen issues. Being able to think critically and find solutions to problems in a timely manner is important as a Rail Supervisor. This includes being proactive in identifying potential issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Attention to detail: As a Rail Supervisor, you will be responsible for monitoring project progress and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and procedures. Having strong attention to detail helps in identifying any potential issues or deviations from project requirements.
  • Time management and organizational skills: Construction projects often have strict timelines and budgets. Being able to effectively manage your time, prioritize tasks, and stay organized is crucial to meet project deadlines and stay within budget constraints.
  • Adaptability and flexibility: Construction projects can be dynamic and unpredictable. Being adaptable and flexible in dealing with changes, adjusting plans, and managing resources accordingly is important for success in this role.
  • Technical knowledge and expertise: While not explicitly mentioned in the provided information, having a solid understanding of rail construction and maintenance processes, as well as relevant technical knowledge, can be advantageous in effectively supervising and providing guidance to the rail team.

As part of the team, you can help us transform lives.
