What are we looking for?

We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Law Clerk to join the Asbestos team in Sydney. This is a permanent full time role.  

Exposure to asbestos, a mineral commonly used in building materials up until the mid-80s, can cause a range of serious and life-threatening health issues.  Over the past 35 years, Slater and Gordon Asbestos Lawyers have acted for thousands of mesothelioma sufferers and many others suffering from asbestos related lung cancer and asbestosis.  We have a proud history of fighting successfully for asbestos victims, while ensuring we do everything we can to support them and their families. 

You will support the team with all administrative tasks, as well as other duties, that will include: 

  • Providing a great level of care and support to our clients in a professional manner
  • Building strong relationships with our clients, internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicating with clients, insurers and other professionals both in writing and verbally
  • Preparing letters of instruction to experts
  • Compiling court documents and briefs to Counsel

What will you bring?

You will be have a passion for social justice and generating positive outcomes for clients. The following experience and skills will ensure your success in this position:  

  • Previous experience in legal support or business administration
  • A natural passion for helping people and high level of empathy
  • Exceptional experience in communication and customer service
  • Excellent written and drafting skills
  • Recognise the importance of attention to detail and time management
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to multi-task 
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment
  • A willingness to learn
  • Proactive approach and initiative
  • Available to work 38 hours per week, between the hours of 8:30am – 5pm Monday to Friday
