Grampians Health Cancer Services is seeking to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse (Division 1) as the McGrath Metastatic Breast Care Nurse. As the successful candidate, you will be an oncology and breast cancer nursing expert.
What you’ll be doing
The role of the McGrath Metastatic Breast Care Nurse (MBCN) - CNC (C) is to provide specialist nursing care, information, education and support to patients diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer.
The McGrath MBCN is a highly skilled and motivated practitioner who will utilise expert skills, knowledge and experience to work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team according to the complexity of care required and the individual need of the patients in their care.
Workload will be mainly self-generated and this will be achieved through extensive interdisciplinary collaboration across primary, secondary and tertiary health. The McGrath MBCN is a clinical expert in advanced breast cancer and functions as a resource person to patients, carers, families, clinical services, and community agencies.
The McGrath MBCN will deliver a coordinated, evidenced-based, seamless, and patient focused approach to care through specialist educational resources for patients, carers, and staff. The patient -centred, holistic nursing care provided by the McGrath MBCN is consistent with the approach underpinned by the McGrath Model of Care.
The McGrath MBCN directly reports to the Director of Cancer Services. They maintain a close collaborative working relationship with the McGrath BCN team at Grampians Health.

Essential Criteria
- Post Graduate qualifications in breast cancer nursing, oncology or palliative care
- AHPRA Nursing Registration Division 1
- Minimum of 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience as a registered nurse with at least 3 years recent full time equivalent experience in Oncology, Palliative Care or Breast Cancer Nursing. Experience in breast cancer/care nursing is essential.
Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, initiate and manage complex cases at an advanced level.
- Demonstrated understanding of the physical, and psychological needs of patients with metastatic breast cancer.
- Understanding of common treatment regimens for metastatic breast cancer
You will join the oncology services leadership team within Cancer Services and the broader Grampians Health oncology network. You will also join the Nursing leadership group of Grampians Health. As the successful candidate, will provide leadership and guidance in our goal to achieve the strategic vision of Grampians health cancer services.
As the successful applicant you will be an outstanding leader and clinician. You will demonstrate an exceptional track record as an oncology registered nurse. You are a confident communicator, possess and provide high-level knowledge of oncology services where evidence based clinical approaches are fundamental to the delivery of services. You will be an advocate for multidisciplinary care, and an active leader and contributor to the team approach across allied health services provided within cancer services. You will have a strong understanding of oncology systems and oncology strategy, particularly how services are applied in regional locations.
Cancer Services at Grampians Health is a multi-site and multi-modality oncology service. Our Network of services extends from Ballarat to Stawell, Horsham and Edenhope, and we provide outreach services also to Maryborough. Our clinical service showcases state-of-the-art radiotherapy and chemotherapy, comprehensive allied health and supportive care, research and clinical trials to a vibrant Wellness Centre offering a full suite of complementary therapies.

This position is paid in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2020 - 2024. The classification is Clinical Nurse Consultant (ZA7) which is paid at $60.38 per hour.
