Policy Advisor opportunity

About the role

Statutory Authority seeks an experienced Policy Advisor to join them on short-term assignment for a duration of up to a period of 3 months based in Melbourne CBD. As a Policy Advisor, you will contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of projects relating to legislation, policy, and regulation for the organisation.

You will support the development and maintenance of integrity and compliance approaches and frameworks for the organisation as well as conduct research and analysis, provide input on policy advice and proposals, document preparation, project delivery and stakeholder engagement; and providing advice and support to specific regulatory operations.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting directly to the Principal Advisor, your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Research, collate and compile information and conduct analysis to identify emerging integrity and compliance issues and to anticipate legislative changes and policy reforms.
  • Provide advice and support to the Principal Advisor as well as the broader Integrity and Regulation Branch leadership team on matters relating to process improvement, integrity, compliance, policy, and regulation reforms.
  • Prepare high-quality, factual, and accurate reports, presentations and correspondence that are clear, concise, and grammatically correct, on time and that demonstrate an understanding of the operational context.
  • Provide support on projects as required by the Integrity and Regulation Branch leadership team, including taking a leading role in the development, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of projects.
  • Provide support to establish new processes, and collateral in relation to handling offences and/or allegations within the organisation's jurisdiction and constructive compliance functions.

Key Selection Criteria

The skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:

  • Policy skills: Demonstrated experience in policy analysis, development, and regulatory reform processes, and the ability to analyse and develop innovative solutions to complex policy issues.
  • Project management: Proven experience in managing projects, reporting on progress towards a broader objective and working effectively in a team environment.
  • Research and analysis: Demonstrated experience reviewing and reconciling information, analysing, and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data and summarising findings.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills using clear and concise language and summarising complex issues into easily understood concepts
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining strong internal and external stakeholder relationships

Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Public Administration, Regulatory policy, or equivalent discipline.
