About the Job
We are seeking energetic CASUAL Petcare/Animal Attendants for our Canberra Pet Hotel & Doggy Daycare located in Symonston.
Shifts are required to be worked between 7am - 7pm seven days per week, and the successful candidates must be available to work Monday to Sunday inclusive, as well as school holidays, public holidays and Christmas/Easter periods. The average weekly hours is 15-25 hours with expectation that you can flex up to 38 hours/week during the school holidays and peak periods.
The key accountabilities of the roles will include animal welfare, cleaning and customer service.
Successful candidates will be responsible for the provision of high-quality pet welfare and providing care for both boarding pet guests and doggy daycare guests which includes cleaning kennels, feeding pets, basic washing/grooming, and exercising of pets. Our Petcare/Animal Attendants also provide excellent customer service when engaging with our clients at pick up and drop off.
About You
You are reliable, motivated and experienced in caring for animals, with genuine affection for cats and dogs. To be a high performer in this role, you will be:
- Certified in Animal Studies and/or companion animal services and/or experienced working in vet clinics, doggy daycares, boarding kennels or catteries (preferred).
- Available to work from Monday to Sunday each week, on rotating rostered shifts, and able to work extra shifts during school holidays/peak periods.
- Flexible and able to cover other planned and unplanned absences, sometimes at short notice.
- Prepared to jump at the chance to help others in your team.
- Able to work at a brisk pace and carry out tasks to required timeframes to satisfy productivity expectations.
- Able to work independently, and willing to ask for guidance for more complex matters.
- Passionate about companion animals.
- A good communicator and positive person who enjoys teamwork.
- A licensed driver with regular access to a car (and clean driving record) to get to/from work.
- Committed to working safely, and following Standard Operating Procedures.
- Willing and able to adhere to Hanrob Pet Hotels' operating procedures and work health and safety requirements at all times.
IMPORTANT: This is an active and physical role working across the Pet Hotel. In addition to being seated for basic reception and administrative work, the incumbent will be required to work in close proximity to cats and dogs, and on their feet for a portion of their day. They must be able to sit for prolonged periods, as well as stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, bend, crouch, kneel, squat, reach, stretch, and restrain animals (up to 50kg) on leads, communicate, speak, and interact with customers, internal and external stakeholders, and members of the public in person, over the phone, and online in order to perform the inherent requirements of the role.
