About the role

We are on the lookout for a Lead Maintenance Specialist who will be responsible for overseeing and performing maintenance activities within a designated Orica or mine facility. Working Mondays-Fridays at our Welshpool Office, Perth.

The Lead Maintenance Specialist will be involved in troubleshooting complex issues, implementing preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. 

This role may include managing a team of maintenance personnel, either Orica or contractor personnel, scheduling and coordinating maintenance tasks, and ensuring that all equipment and systems are functioning efficiently and safely. 

What you will be doing

Oversee routine maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and servicing of equipment and facilities; Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks; Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using diagnostic tools and equipment; Repair and replace faulty components such as brakes, transmissions, engines, and other parts; Use computerized diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle issues; Conduct thorough inspections to determine the root cause of problems; Provide accurate diagnostics reports and repair recommendations; Maintain clear and effective communication with all stakeholders, including internal teams; Provide regular updates and reports on vehicle/equipment repair status and performance; Works as a team with operations and maintenance management in overall maintenance strategies and delivery; Improves overall regional maintenance by reducing Vehicle Off Road (VOR) while at the same time ensuring vehicle/equipment reliability; Assign and schedule maintenance tasks to team members; Provide guidance and support to ensure high-quality work and efficient operations; Coordinate and perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment; Respond to emergency maintenance requests and resolve issues promptly.

What you will bring

Requirements:

Australian Certification in LV/HV; Minimum of 3 years of experience as a qualified LV/HV mechanic; Experience on mine sites; Extensive knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems; Extensive exposure to mechanical and electrical repairs;

Desirable Skills:

2-3 years in a supervisory role; Exposure to new technologies e.g. new generation and electric vehicles; Strong commitment to safety and compliance, with a demonstrated ability to enforce protocols and promote a culture of safety awareness; Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence; Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, repair manuals, and maintenance management software. The Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
