Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.  In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.

Job Description

Established in 2016, our Grosvenor Mine is an underground steelmaking coal operation based in the township of Moranbah, QLD. Situated only five minutes from Moranbah fifteen minutes’ drive from the Moranbah Airport and with an expected life of mine until 2039, Grosvenor is here to stay for the long-term growth of your career. We offer modern facilities for camp accommodation with a short travel time of only five minutes from the mine site, Anglo American housing options and healthy meals

We are currently seeking an experienced Longwall Fitter on a permanent basis. This role will see you responsible for completing the Longwall maintenance tasks as a trade qualified Mechanical Fitter.

The Longwall Fitter is accountable for ensuring all maintenance activities undertaken are performed in line with safety and statutory requirements. To be successful in this role you will ensure compliance with all Anglo American safety and operating systems and have a commitment to working together as part of a team to achieve business objectives.

Qualifications

• You will have proven mechanical maintenance experience within an underground coal mine
• Hold a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade or equivalent
• Strong experience in Diesel Engine Systems (DES), Hydraulics 2, and Brake Testing with relevant units completed (desirable)
• Ability to carry out maintenance works as it relates to Longwall
• Demonstrated ability to repair mining machinery and attend breakdowns
• Ability to conduct roof support installation and other maintenance works within the Longwall
