About the Role

An influential leadership role in agile structure, as the Network Engineering Product Owner – Principal, you have an essential role in delivering optimised energy consumption, efficient and sustainable energy and environment strategies and technology capabilities enabling Telstra to meet its environmental, sustainability, energy consumption reduction, scope 1+2 emissions and recycling objectives.

Key Responsibilities

As a Networks, Environment & Energy Principal, you draw on your very deep domain expertise and experience, you develop, establish, and share the Energy & Environment vision for a multi-faceted Network and plan how to maximise the value delivered to customers and the business.

Our Energy and Environment Team are accountable to:

  • Apply strong strategic thinking ability combined with deep network, facilities, energy and environment knowledge to develop and deliver power, cooling and environmental system standards and technology solutions aligned with Energy and Environment Strategy, network resilience principles and efficiently meet energy needs in Telstra’s facilities.

  • Develop the Energy consumption & Environment strategy including technology innovation and climate adaptation initiatives.

  • Contribute to the Groups network climate change and sustainability ambitions and goals.

  • Optimise Telstra Ltd energy consumption, emissions reduction and deliver sustainability programs and projects to meet corporate targets, including development of integrated and optimised legacy infrastructure decommissioning plans

  • Monetise recycling of decommissioned infrastructure to support the circular economy and build this activity as self sustaining

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Contributing to planning, in year and over multi-year horizons, at the Group and Function level to inform the OKRs.

  • Maintaining alignment of the Network infrastructure with group and organisational objectives and providing guidance to others on decision making related to the Network.

  • Engage and align mission team members and stakeholders around the Mission vision communicating in clear and simple terms.

  • Authentically engage with customers and key internal stakeholders to maintain customer focus, identifying gaps, and synthesizing feedback to recommend Network solutions.

  • Negotiate with stakeholders to prioritise work and where required, remove lower priority work from the backlog.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, role modelling willingness to fail fast and the ability to reflect on feedback and learn.

  • Prepare tailored analysis to defined business and technology capabilities and objectives and facilitate product showcases.

About You

  • Knowledge in Energy Storage Technologies and Reserve Power

  • An understanding of cooling technologies

  • Experience with renewable Energy & Energy reduction methodologies

  • Knowledge of emerging energy efficient solutions and technologies.

  • Advanced commercial and business acumen

  • Effective stakeholder engagement, collaboration and management experience

  • Executive influencing skills

  • Advanced communication skills (written & oral) & presentation skills
