About the role:

Based at our Dandenong workshop, we are seeking a Leading Hand Mechanic to guide, mentor and train our apprentices for the afternoon shift.

As a Diesel Mechanic Apprentice Leading hand, you will play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of skilled mechanics. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Training and Mentoring
  • Provide hands-on training and mentorship to apprentice mechanics.
  • Carry out technical diagnosis and guidance in repairs.
  • Share your expertise in diesel engine maintenance and repair techniques.
  • Foster a learning environment that promotes skill development and growth.
  • Ensure all work meets high-quality standards and adheres to industry best practices
  • Conduct regular inspections and assessments to maintain service excellence
  • Implement corrective actions as necessary to address any quality issues
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance overall workshop efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with apprentices, fellow mechanics, and workshop management
  • Provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.

 About you:

  • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic with a focus on training and mentoring
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • In-depth knowledge of diesel engines and related systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in all aspects of the job
  • Willing to take a Pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol test

Waste industry experience is not essential.

Shortlisted candidates must be prepared to undertake a full pre-employment medical which includes drug and alcohol screening as well as a National Police Clearance if required.
