With a history of over 160 years in the Australian and New Zealand sugar industries, Wilmar Sugar Australia operations span the value chain from sugar cane growing, sugar manufacturing, refining, exporting, and marketing, to the production of renewable electricity, ethanol and sustainable agricultural products.

To be more specific, Wilmar manufactures over half of Australia's raw sugar, and each year exports enough electricity to power more than 68,000 Australian homes for 12 months.  As well as supplying ethanol (ethyl alcohol) to the growing fuel market in Australia, Wilmar also supplies a significant market share to various industries including the pharmaceutical, printing, cleaning, winery, aerosol, animal health and food and beverage industries.

About the Role

We are currently seeking applications for a Weighbridge Operator located at Kalamia Mill. This is a seasonal position in our sugar processing factory which requires shift work during the crushing season on a rotating roster.

The Weighbridge Operator is responsible for the correct weighing of all cane entering the weighbridge and data entry from the consignment information.  This position is also responsible for safe operation of fixed plant located in the weighbridge via the use of Citec.  You will be tasked with assisting in scheduled cleans of the weighbridge to ensure accuracy of weighing, working in confined spaces and maintaining records of scheduled weighbridge test weights.

  • Enter & work confined space - Statement of Attainment
  • Use of telephones and two-way radio
  • Teamwork - work effectively within a team
  • Ability to achieve competency in the sugar milling modules applicable to the weighbridge and feeding station.

You will need to possess good communication skills to provide regular/accurate feedback on work status.  Mechanical aptitude is desirable as working with mechanical plant and the maintenance teams is required.
