Animal Referral Hospital (ARH) Brisbane is part of a renowned network of specialist and emergency veterinary hospitals. Our state-of-the-art facility is designed to provide top-notch specialty services and 24/7 emergency and critical care. We are committed to maintaining high clinical and professional standards driven by genuine care and compassion.
Our Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) team works around the clock with rotational shifts during evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Enjoy the benefits of penalty rates for most shifts, translating to more earnings and a better quality of life for you and your pet

Our ECC nurses excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and love the camaraderie it fosters. They are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and thrive on the variety and unpredictability of emergency and critical care. Like many of our team members, you might be transitioning from general practice and ready to embrace the dynamic field of emergency veterinary care.
About You
You share our commitment to outstanding patient care and seek a role where no two shifts are the same. You enjoy working in an energetic team environment with plenty of good-natured banter. You are organized, adaptable, enthusiastic, and a strong communicator, skilled at multitasking in a fast-paced setting.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience in a busy general practice or experience in a referral (specialist hospital) or emergency setting
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and public holidays, and to assist with short-notice shift cover if needed
- A friendly, easygoing nature, capable of working both independently and as part of a team
- A strong work ethic, efficiency, and multitasking abilities
- Demonstrated experience delivering high-quality patient care under busy conditions
Desirable Attributes:
- Diploma of Veterinary Nursing (Emergency and Critical Care)
- Proficiency in anesthetic monitoring and nursing critical and ventilated patients
- Experience in an emergency or specialist hospital
- Familiarity with RX Works, Smartflow, and Idexx blood machines
